JMDC Celebrates 10th Convocation
Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC) held its 10th convocation at Community Center, PAF Faisal Base, Karachi recently. Degrees were awarded to more than 200 successful graduates.
The ceremony highlighted the accomplishments of graduating students with the distribution of 58 medals. Notably, female students earned 21 medals, showcasing their academic excellence. Vahora Maham, an MBBS graduate, received an impressive six medals in recognition of her outstanding educational performance.
Honorary Guest Ms Sultana Siddiqui, President HUM Network also addressed the audience urging the graduates to pledge allegiance to their country and appealed to them to remain in Pakistan, emphasizing the critical need for their services to address the shortage of doctors and contribute to fulfilling the healthcare needs of the nation. She said that to achieve something in life one had to work hard and focus to reach their goal. Ms Siddiqui gave her own example of becoming the first network owner from scratch and also looking after three young children single-handedly due to her focused goal.
Professor Dr. Amjad Siraj, Vice Chancellor of JSMU, presided over the convocation. He addressed the graduating class, congratulating them on their achievements and acknowledging the significant contributions of parents and teachers in shaping their success. Professor Siraj commended JMDC for its reputation as a distinguished medical college, providing students with high-quality education at an accessible cost. He emphasized the critical need for healthcare professionals in Pakistan and urged the graduates to serve their country by addressing the shortage of doctors.
Consumers Association of Pakistan organized a prestigious event “Women Dignity Award 2024” to acknowledge women in society. The award ceremony was held recently at a local hotel in Karachi. Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori was the chief guest. This ceremony was held to project women empowerment in a male-dominated society. Consumers Association of Pakistan believes in empowering women to enable them to be self-reliant in all fields.
Consul generals, dignitaries, people from all walks of life and women entrepreneurs participated in the event. These awards have been named after three of our most renowned women of the country; Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Leadership Award; First Lady Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, Education Excellency Award and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Award.
The launching ceremony of ‘Dr Aijaz Fatima Women & Children Centre’ (AFWCC) was held on the third death anniversary of Dr. Aijaz Fatima, the founder of Dr. Ziauddin Hospital, a renowned gynecologist and a pioneering figure in the medical community.
Outlining a strategic direction focused on advancing research with the provision of quality care and accessible treatment to women and children, AFWCC aims to identify priority healthcare issues for optimal health care in the community and at Dr Ziauddin Hospitals, underpinned with the University’s research capability for solutions.
Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Minister for Health, Government of Sindh was the chief guest and lauded the efforts of AFWCC. “The organization is an adventure that holds immense promise.” Pro-chancellor of Ziauddin University Dr. Nida Hussain added, “The establishment of the ‘Dr. Aijaz Fatima Women & Children Centre’ marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to provide high-quality healthcare and advance research in maternal and child healthcare.”
Asim Azhar, the renowned Pakistani singer-songwriter, celebrated the launch of his debut album, ‘BEMATLAB’ with an event at District19. The event marked a significant milestone in Azhar’s shiny music career, captivating the who’s who of the entertainment industry and close family and fans with his soulful beats and heartfelt lyrics.
The album’s title, ‘Bematlab,’ meaning selfless, reflects Azhar’s profound gratitude towards his dedicated fan base who has selflessly supported him throughout his journey. In a heartfelt message in the trailer shared six days prior to the launch, Azhar expressed his admiration for his fans, acknowledging their selfless love and importance in shaping his identity as an artist.
The seven tracks navigate through the seven stages of heartbreak and represents Asim’s versatility as an artist. Asim merges contemporary flair with timeless appeal.
Reflecting on the significance of the album, he said, “My life and my supporters are the inspiration and motivation behind this album.”
