Inauguration of 27th Annual Exhibition by Pakistan Bonsai Society and Japan Fest

The 27th annual exhibition was presented by the Pakistan Bonsai Society at the famous Zamzama Park in Karachi. H.E. Mr. Masaru Hattori, the Consul General of Japan, Karachi, inaugurated the exhibition.

Bonsai plants and trees nurtured by the members of the Pakistan Bonsai Society were exhibited, and were greatly appreciated by the Chief Guest and the guests present on the occasion. The plants require a lot of care and effort and have a lifespan of many years. Many of the bonsai plants and trees displayed in the exhibition were more than 50 years old.

Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Bonsai Society General Retired Tariq Waseem Ghazi, Chairman Khawaja Muhammad Mazhar, Vice President Khalid Sohail and Secretary Ruby Salman were also present on the occasion. The Bonsai trees included 200 different species of plants and trees, ranging in age from sixteen to sixty-four years which included bougainvillea, clerodendrum, tamarind, adenium and obesum.

A few days earlier Japan Fest was held at Arts Council Karachi, co-sponsored by Pakistan Japan Cultural Association, Sindh (PJCA) and Pakistan Japan Business Forum (PJBF).

Japan Fest is one of the largest events held every year by the Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi to celebrate Japanese culture, promote understanding and friendship between Japan and Pakistan. “Japan-Pakistan Fusion” was this year’s central theme, based on Japanese culture while also connecting with the local community.

The performers, collaborators and participants joined in wholeheartedly to make Japan Fest a positive success!

This launch programme is designed to evoke nostalgia and pay tribute to the rich musical heritage of the subcontinent.

A private premiere show was held recently, attended by the city’s elite and notables. The evening unfolded with food, aesthetic settings and captivating performances, culminating in a memorable night that extended into the early hours of Sunday.

Celebrating 70 Years of PFBPWO

Pakistan Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Organization celebrated its 70th Anniversary on December 7, 2024. The organisation was founded by Dr. Salima R Ahmed (Late) in 1954 which was inaugurated by Begum Liaquat Ali Khan. It is presently headed by Ms. Nasreen Mahdi. A function was organized by the NGO to pay tribute to the pioneers appreciating their contribution. The chief guests were Sultana Siddiqui,  Khanum Gauhar Aijaz, Mrs. Masuda Ahmed, Ms. Ayesha Islam, Ms. Akram Khatoon, Ms Rashida Raza, Begum Jamila Daud and Advocate Zia Awan.


The President in her speech highlighted the contribution of Dr. Salima R Ahmed, the founder who led the organization for 63 years. She pointed out that the NGO exists in seven cities of Pakistan and some of the projects the organization is running are Working Women’s Hostels, Schools, Craft Centres, Housing Societies and Medical Care Centres etc. and upcoming projects like Girls College in Gharo.

The function was attended by the members of the Pakistan Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Organisation and guests. The dances and skits presented by the students of Dr. S R A BPW Quality School were enjoyed by those present. Sultana Siddiqui, President Hum Network spoke about the days when she actively participated in the NGO and the work of Salima Ahmed. Each guest highlighted the early days of the organisation. Shields were presented to all the chief guests and gifts to school children.

Launch of The Carnivore

After the success of its branches in Islamabad, Lahore and Riyadh The Carnivore – Baked Meat Restaurant opened its doors here recently with the who’s who of the city participating along with consul generals of Karachi. After a bustling red carpet, the guests were ushered to their seats where they were treated to a high-end, sit-down dinner of their choice. The restaurant’s motto, ‘Service within three minutes’ has built their reputation over the years across their chain of restaurants for not only adhering to their claims but also offering unique and healthful cuisine. Thus, The Carnivore has become the fastest-growing chain of restaurants both within Pakistan and abroad.

Speaking on the occasion the brains behind the venture, the brother duo Shoaib and Zohaib, expressed their delight at launching a branch in Karachi. Said Shoaib “I am overwhelmed by the support and love we have received since we came here, and are very excited that we are now in this wonderful city that appreciates diversity in cuisine.”
