The farshi shalwar is creating waves with it’s strong comeback, becoming a favourite amongst women and men across Pakistan.
This traditional garment has a rich history that dates back to the 17th century in Uttar Pradesh. It was originally a symbol of Mughal royalty worn by women who were known for their unmatched sense of style. The shalwar’s floor length design is meant to cascade gracefully down to the floor. It can be decorated with embroidery, mirrors and beads.
Creating a place in the world of traditional and ethnic wear. Social media and celebrities have played a vital role in reviving this trend and bringing it back into the spotlight. Celebrities such as Urwa Hocane, Ushna Shah and Sarah Khan were spotted donning the shalwar in their own ways.
Farshi shalwars aren’t just restricted to women! Pakistani men have embraced this trend in their own way. Fahad Mustafa, for example, was seen sporting a farshi shalwar on a show. Singer Falak Shabbir also looked effortlessly sophisticated in the outfit.
