A live-streamed clash between Miss Mexico and Thai organiser Nawat Itsaragrisil sparks global debate among contestants and fans.

A sashing ceremony in Bangkok took an unexpected turn when Thai organiser Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly confronted Fátima Bosch, Miss Mexico, during a live broadcast.

In the viral clip, Itsaragrisil can be seen questioning Bosch about her absence from a sponsor shoot, telling her to listen as he speaks. He reportedly called her a “dumb act.”

The exchange, which began over Bosch missing a sponsor shoot, quickly escalated. As tension rose, several contestants walked out in solidarity, prompting widespread debate about respect, professionalism and how women are treated in pageantry.

Bosch later addressed the incident online, saying she would remain in the competition but refused to be silenced. “I came here to raise my voice for women and girls,” she wrote.

Itsaragrisil later apologised, saying, “If anyone felt uncomfortable or affected, I apologise, especially to the seventy-five girls present.” He claimed his frustration stemmed from around twenty contestants declining sponsor-related filming.

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has confirmed that all official events will continue as planned. In a statement, it reaffirmed its commitment to diversity, empowerment and inclusion, adding that CEO Mario Búcaro will travel to Thailand to oversee coordination with local organisers.

With the finale approaching, Miss Universe 2025 is shaping the conversation on power, respect and the modern face of pageantry.
