Chai and green Tea
Natural Remedy for your needs!
All of us know that life in Pakistan is incomplete without Chai (tea). So why don’t we delve into how our love for it can actually be beneficial for our health?
First, let’s acknowledge the difference between chai and green tea. Chai is the combination of fermented and oxidized black tea leaves. Whereas green tea tends to contain flower and fruit extract and can be flavored or unflavored. It is made of comparatively unprocessed tea leaves that are minimally oxidized. It is also packed with anti-oxidants. It contains certain types of polyphenols called catechins. Both are also made up of different chemicals. Their caffeine content also varies – chai contains 20mg more of it relatively.
Now let’s look at beauty benefits –
Weight Loss
Green tea’s connection to weight loss is not a myth! Research shows that consumption of it increases the rate of your metabolism, fat oxidation and improves insulin activity. It helps burn fat.
Acne and Blemishes
Green tea helps with reducing skin inflammation for acne breakouts and blemishes. It contains a chemical called catechins – an anti-oxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. Drinking it cleanses your body from various bacteria. Brew some jasmine tea and apply it on your skin. It maintains skin pH level and fights pimple causing bacteria.
Dark Circles
Don’t throw those tea bags out after using them. Put them on your eyes for five to ten minutes after drinking chai, and voila! Eye puffiness and dark circles will start eliminating eventually. The caffeine content in tea helps shrink blood vessels underneath the skin, and the tannins reduces puffiness.
Skin Toner
Wipe a wet tea bag over your face; it does the job of making it less greasy. Clean your face with a clean towel right after.
Chapped Lips
Apply a warm and damp teabag on your lips to hydrate and soothe them. Over consumption of tea is not recommended. Two cups a day should be the maximum amount.
