A Mushaira With a Difference

The 6th Annual Qaumi Mushaira, held at the historic Mohatta Palace in Karachi, was attended by over 2,500 guests from diverse backgrounds. The Mushaira is annually endorsed by the legendary Iftikhar Arif.

The entire CPG team put in efforts in organizing the event to run smoothly and financial contributions played an important role in making this mushaira possible. Adnan Rizvi, the Convenor of the mushaira’s management skills and ability with poets, members and partners have been key to the event’s success worked side by side with Azfar Ahsan.

The decor at Mohatta Palace was done by Syed Mubashir Imam and his team at ChannelTek. The expertise in lighting and design enhanced the look of the huge garden of the palace which was filled with people from all walks of life interested in hearing good poetry. The presence of young people was heartwarming for the organizers, considering the abject situation of the delightful language, amongst young people today.

Senator Faisal Sabzwari was the host for the evening. His eloquence and unique style made the event interesting. Outstanding poets such as Iftikhar Arif, Pirzada Qasim, Anwar Shaoor, Nasira Zubairi and others participated in the mushaira.

The Qaumi Mushaira has become an important tradition, contributing to Karachi’s cultural richness and Pakistan’s vibrant poetry scene.
